An Exchange Database file or EDB is something that almost every Exchange administrator is familiar with. The Exchange database is the central storage location for all mailbox data processed by an Exchange server. One or more mailboxes and public folders are stored in these databases. According to Microsoft's definition: "A mailbox database is a unit of granularity where mailboxes are created and stored." These mailbox database files are then stored in an Exchange database (.edb) file. Some native tools, such as Eseutil and PowerShell scripts, can be used to recover and convert EDB to PST.
